Sidama IPDC has been working hard to create job opportunities for Yirgalem IAIP/RTCs’ catchments.

The Sidama IPDC has been creating a wide range of employment opportunities for unemployed youths and women around Yirgalem Integrated Agro Industrial Park and Rural Transformation Centers in collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO/BMZ SI Project.

In this project, permanent income opportunities created for 368 unemployed youths and women by organizing in to 15 SMEs on avocado seedling, bakery production, garment, earth block, terrazzo production and on other off farm activities.

In the past three years, the UNIDO/BMZ SI Project allocated a budget for job creation and has provided more than 20 million Ethiopian birr for 8 modern nursery mill sheds, Bakery machines, and earth block machines as well as for training support for targeted beneficiaries’ around Yirgalem Integrated Agro Industrial Park and rural transformation centers/RTCs.

Finally, a recognition certificate and appreciation were given for the UNIDO/BMZ Project coordinators and project handover ceremony was done by Sidama IPDC and Sidama Region Job & Skill Development Bureau with the presence of all relevant regional, federal officials and Development partners.
