Regional Investment Promotion Workshops
The agro-industrial development sector is given due emphasis and priority in consideration of wide-reaching economic benefits including job opportunity, generation of hard currency, transformation from agriculture to industry and social and economic development. In this respect, Integrated Agro-Industrial Parks (IAIPs) and Rural Transformation Centres (RTCs) are considered as a vehicle for the structural transformation of the Ethiopian economy through the commercialization of the agricultural sector.
Within this backdrop, Bure Integrated Agro-Industrial Parks (IAIPs) and the seven (7) Rural Transformation Centres (RTCs) were built in Amhara region. Bure IAIP has the highest potential to attract domestic and foreign investments in the agro-industrial sector. Some investors are already registered and started operation and are undertaking construction of factory shades/buildings in the park and are engaged in supporting the production of agriculture through different extension mechanisms specific to their factory needs.
It is important to ensure opportunities are well communicated and promoted to foreign and domestic investors to attract quality investment to the park and allied activities. Hence, an investment promotion forum at regional level to create opportunities for investors to understand potential of the area, investment incentive packages, available infrastructures and administration systems is planned to be conducted so as to enable improved investment in the agro-industrial parks and related infrastructures like the RTCs.
